Wyre Council has today announced new creative leadership for Thornton Little Theatre, with the lease awarded to Ged and Claire Mills, alongside continued investment in The Marine Hall, which will remain under direct council operation.
This is a welcome moment of clarity for two venues that matter to communities right across the Fylde Coast.
In February Wyre Council invited expressions of interest followed by proposal submissions for the operation of Thornton Little Theatre. Ged and Claire Mills' submission was chosen from the twelve tenders received, and they have been granted the five-year lease. They bring years of professional experience in the entertainment industry and the kind of grounded, knowledgeable approach that gives confidence to performers, hirers, and audiences alike. We wish them every success as they take Thornton Little Theatre into its next chapter.
Marine Hall remaining under direct council operation, supported by fresh investment, is also a positive outcome. It's a much-loved venue with a long history in Fleetwood, and continued council stewardship offers stability and the opportunity to build on what's already there.
Strong, sustainable venues need clear leadership, experienced operators, and a real connection to the communities they serve. Today's announcements set both venues on a positive footing, and we very much look forward to seeing them thrive.
