Thornton Cleveleys Band & Capricorn Singers Celebrate a Wonderful Concert Success

The sounds of music filled Poulton Community Hall on Saturday 27th June 2026 as Thornton Cleveleys Band were invited by the Capricorn Singers to provide an evening of entertainment.

Despite the heat, the concert was a success, with the audience enjoying a varied programme showcasing the talents of both the choir and the band, as well as several exciting joint performances.

The evening opened with the Capricorn Singers performing “Seal Lullaby” and “Only You”, setting a beautiful tone for the concert. Thornton Cleveleys Band then took to the stage with a selection of pieces including “Imperial Echoes”, “Men of Harlech”, “Breezin’ Down Broadway” and “Korobeiniki”, demonstrating the band’s versatility and musical energy.

The first half also featured choir performances including “One Night Only”, before both groups joined forces for a lively ABBA Medley, bringing the first half to a spectacular close.

Following a short interval and some gorgeous home-made cakes,  the band entertained the audience with favourites including “Arnhem”, “Jesus Good Above All Other”, “Singing in the Rain” and “Bring Me Sunshine”. The Capricorn Singers delighted the crowd with “Songbird”, “Harry”, “It’s Raining Men” and “Why We Sing”, highlighting the strength and variety of the choir.

The evening reached its finale with a rousing joint performance of the “Les Misérables Selection”, bringing together the full power of band and choir in a fitting end to a fantastic concert.

Thornton Cleveleys Band would like to thank  the Capricorn singers for the invitation to join forces with them and to thank everyone who attended and helped make the concert such a success.
